Podiatry is a form of medicine devoted to the study, diagnosis, and treatment of disorders of the foot, ankle, and lower leg.
Patients can come to the Loughbrickland Clinic complaining of anything from foot, heel and ankle pain to pains in your shin, calf, knee, hips and back as well as general chiropody foot problems such as ingrown toe nails, corns and verrucae.
By looking at the way certain joints and muscles function the Orthopaedic Podiatrist at the Loughbrickland Clinic who is a specialist in gait analysis and biomechanics, is able to determine if the way you are moving (gait analysis, biomechanical assessment) is contributing to a current injury or lower limb pain or possibly be the cause of an injury in the future. All patients are assessed walking, standing and if applicable running with slow motion video gait analysis by the Podiatrist to visualize their individual gait / running pattern. A foot pressure plate is also available for further dynamic measurements.
